So a Thin Mint cookie, some good ol’ vanilla ice cream, and homemade fudge walk into a blender…

And create the best milk shake ever. (channels Outkast: Forever ever?)

But fo’ reals. This is delicious. Like a girl scout cookie in a glass. Plus, it’s totally St. Patty’s appropriate.

Though if we were going to go that route, we should probably add Schnapps… OK officially Schnapps would be a great addition to this shake.

Aaand if it were up to me (which it is…), I would call this a frappe. Because I am from Boston and in Boston milkshakes are frappes. But to make this post geographically-appropriate, Shake it is.

Did I mention how good it is though?

Units:

Ingredients

For the mint hot fudge

  • 1/4 teaspoon mint extract
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

For the shake

  • 1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 large handful mint leaves (about 1/2 cup)
  • 3+ tablespoons whole milk
  • 15 drops green food coloring
  • 8 Thin Mint cookies

For the thin mint rim

  • 2 Thin Mint cookies
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions

    1. Cook fudge my heating cream on medium heat until scaling (steaming but not yet boiling). Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips and mint extract. Set aside to cool slightly.
    2. Pulverize two thin mint cookies in a blender until powder. Add in sugar and pour onto a small plate. Fill a clean bowl with water, then dip the rim of your glass into the water. Shake off excess liquid, then dip the rim into the powdered cookie mixture. Set aside.
    3. Combine all shake ingredients in a blender. Begin with 3 tablespoons of whole milk, and add more as needed, one tablespoon at a time. It’s better to start with a thicker milkshake than to make a thin one and have it unsalvageable!
    4. Drizzle fudge sauce onto the sides of the glass, then pour in shake. Top with a few sprigs of fresh mint and a thin mint cookie!
