The best peanut butter recipes for every peanut butter lover

If there’s one thing we always have in our pantry it’s peanut butter. Because…well duh. Peanut butter is and has ALWAYS been one of my absolute favorite foods. It’s versatile, affordable, packed with protein, and also delicious. Wins all around. Better yet, it is easily one of the best baking ingredients. There are so many scrumptious salty-sweet treats that you can make with peanut butter. From chewy peanut butter cookies, to Reese’s macarons, to peanut butter banana bread….the options are endless when it comes to baking with peanut butter.

So we put together an exhaustive list of every single peanut butter recipe on the blog! Let’s get baking!

What kind of peanut butter should you bake with?

This is a question we get asked a lot, and unfortunately the answer is not as straightforward as I would like. It really depends on the recipe. If I had to narrow it down these would be the top 3 types of peanut butter we use for peanut butter desert recipes:

  1. Creamy Peanut Butter: Most often, I prefer traditional creamy peanut butter for baking. Jiff, Skippy, Peter Pan–you know the no-stir, cheaper stuff. It’s a little more processed which tends to give it a thick, creamy consistency that holds up well in the oven.
  2. Natural Peanut Butter: As long as you stir natural peanut butter very well before measuring it out, you can generally swap out traditional creamy peanut butter for natural in most recipes (unless specifically stated that you should not!). Natural peanut butter tends to separate, leaving oil on top and a  drier peanut butter paste below. It’s important to stir your peanut butter really before using it or you’ll end up adding oil to your batter instead of peanut buttery goodness.
  3. Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter: When it comes to eating straight peanut butter, this one is my fav–Trader Joe’s preferably hehe. Natural crunchy peanut butter works well for most of the “healthier” recipes on the site. If you prefer a little more texture and crunch in your peanut butter baked goods, you can always swap out a creamy pb for a crunchy one. It’s totally a preference!
