Creamy Goat Cheese Dip

If there’s one thing I love it’s an easy holiday appetizer. Don’t get me wrong, dessert is still my favorite part of the meal (duh), but the appetizer course is a very close second. Appetizers set the tone for the rest of your meal, and they simply don’t get enough credit. Like, who doesn’t love a good app? Cheeseboards, queso, goat cheese dip…okay, I mean really the reason I love appetizers is because it’s an acceptable excuse to eat tons of cheese.

And this creamy goat cheese dip might just be my favorite cheesy appetizer of all time. It’s also the best kind of recipe because it’s super easy, comes together in a flash from just a few ingredients and looks gourmet. And while the holidays might look a little different this year, you can bet I’ll be making this creamy goat cheese dip for thanksgiving and allllll our holiday occasions.

I would brush my teeth with these goat cheese dip if I could.

What do you need to make this baked goat cheese dip

You’ll only need four ingredients (YES FOUR) to whip up this cheesy holiday appetizer. And when you’re using only a few ingredients, it is SO important to use high quality ones. That’s where Vermont Creamery comes in.

Vermont Creamery is one of my oldest (and most favorite) partners. As a recipe developer you can bet that I go through my fair sure of dairy products and I ALWAYS reach for Vermont Creamery in the dairy aisle. Truly nothing competes with their creamy, tangy goat cheese, silky smooth butters, and buttery cheeses. I’m obsessed.

And thanks to Vermont Creamery this goat cheese dip is downright delicious. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Vermont Creamery Original Goat Cheese: If you haven’t tried this goat cheese yet, you haven’t lived. It’s creamy, tangy and melts up perfectly in this goat cheese dip. Vermont Creamery also has a few different flavor variations to mix up this recipe if you desire!
  • Vermont Creamery Crème Fraîche: A lot of other goat cheese dips call for cream cheese, but crème fraîche is so much lighter and creamier. You’ll only need half of an 8 ounce container of, but I can assure you you’ll find another use for the other 4 ounces. It works beautifully in savory and sweet recipes alike and adds a delicious creaminess to homemade ice creams, soups, mashed potatoes, and frostings. You will LOOOOOOOVE it.
  • Parmesan Cheese: I love adding just a bit of grated parmesan to this cheese dip. It adds a nutty, buttery bite and melts up beautifully.
  • Olive Oil: You’ll need just a drizzle of olive oil to get your goat cheese dip super creamy. We recommend using an extra virgin olive oil in a dark bottle for best results!

Tips for making the best baked goat cheese

This goat cheese dip is a super simple and easy appetizer to throw together, but these 3 tips will make it even easier to throw this appetizer together:

  • Use a food processor or blender: This will make your life so much easier! You can absolutely make this with a hand mixer or a fork, but using a high powder blender or food processor will make your dip even smoother and creamier.
  • Wait to bake it until you’re ready to eat it: This goat cheese dip is best served up piping hot. The goat cheese mixture can sit in the baking dish for a few days and it only needs about 10 minutes in the oven, so we recommend waiting until you’re ready to warm it up.
  • Serve it up with a variety of dipping vessels: This cheesy dip pairs well with so many different dipping vessels. See below for all our recommendations!

What should you serve with goat cheese dip?

Okay now here’s the fun part. The options are endless. Some of my favorite pairings include:

  • Roasted tomatoes: I LOVE serving this goat cheese dip up with some blistered tomatoes. They add a festive pop of color and flavor. Simply toss some cherry tomatoes with olive oil and salt and roast them in the oven or in a sauce pan until they burst. It will look gourmet, but is incredibly easy.
  • Bread: Cut up a crusty baguette or artisanal loaf of bread, drizzle it with olive oil and toast it up for the perfect dipping vessel.
  • Crackers: Like bread, crackers are the perfect carby pairing for a cheesy dip. Get a variety so people can pick and choose their favorites!
  • Crunchy Veggies: Carrots, celery, cucumbers, and peppers are all great, light veggies to pair with this creamy dip.
  • Pretzels: I love a salty crunchy pretzel on its own. But pair it with this scrumptious goat cheese dip and you’re in heaven. I recommend twists for maximum surface area to load up on the cheese.
  • Fruit: Sliced apples, pears, or grapes pair with this creamy goat cheese dip as a salty-sweet combo.

Units:

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Vermont Creamery Classic Goat Cheese
  • 4 ounces Vermont Creamery Crème Fraîche
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 375° F.
    2. Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse to combine. Blend continuously for about 1 minute or until completely creamy.
    3. Use a rubber spatula to transfer the dip into a small ceramic baking dish (I used a 6 inch shallow bowl but any oven safe dish will work!).
    4. Place the goat cheese dip in the oven for 20 minutes or until light golden brown. I like to broil it for the last minute to get it nice and toasty on top 🙂
    5. Top with blistered tomatoes, a drizzle of olive oil or fresh herbs and serve with grilled bread, crackers, or veggies. Enjoy!

  1. This turned out very well although it doesn’t pair with everything. We tried it with herb crackers and cheese crackers and I have to say, I think focaccia or a neutral bread would really have paired better with this. It was really delicious for dipping pecans, of all things. I may try this again pairing it with a nutty or olive bread.

  2. I’ve made this so many times, it’s ALWAYS a hit. Making it tomorrow and adding in some fresh basil at the end….because, why not?! Thank you!!

  3. lovely, I miss dips, this is a wonderful reminder of how much I love a good dip, almost any kind of cheese will do, a creamy goat cheese, definitely, thank you!
