Easy Air Fryer Donuts

Donuts are one of my most favorite foods to eat. But they are not my most favorite food to make. Working the dough, waiting for them to rise, the hot oil, the mess…it can be a lot. Which is why I am SO excited to share these super easy air fryer donuts with you. They’re made with just 3 ingredients and come together in under 15 minutes! YOU HEARD ME PPL.

What are air fryer donuts?

These cinnamon sugar air fryer donuts have a crisp, cinnamon sugar-y exterior with soft, buttery inside. They’re the perfect treat to whip up for breakfast or as a tasty dessert. Simply cut out a donut hole from the center of premade biscuits, air fry them until they’re golden brown, and dip in cinnamon sugar! These taste just as good as a standard donut, but with half the ingredients and a fraction of the time! I kid you not, these donuts were gone within 4 hours of their conception, so just believe me when I tell you everyone will love these donuts.

Ingredients for these easy air fryer donuts

These air fryer donuts are not only scrumptious, but also SO EASY to make–I’m talking 4 simple ingredients and minimal prep time. No need to make a homemade donut dough, buy a gallon of vegetable oil for frying, and two rolls of paper towels for the clean up.! All you’ll need are these 4 ingredients, an air fryer and a donut pan!

Here’s your shopping list:

  • Large Biscuits: We use Pillsbury Grands Biscuits, but any high quality biscuit will get the job done.
  • Butter: You’ll dip your donuts hot out of the air fryer in some melted butter to get that buttery, cinnamon sugar finish. We recommend using salted butter to cut some of the sweetness, but if you only have unsalted butter on hand, you can also just add a pinch of salt to your melted butter!
  • Granulated Sugar: All good donuts are delicious with a cinnamon sugar-y finish. You can always buy premade cinnamon sugar at the store, but it’s so easy to make with
  • Ground Cinnamon: Of course you’ll also need some ground cinnamon to make cinnamon sugar donuts. If you don’t like cinnamon you can always omit it though!

What kitchen tools do you need to make air fryer donuts

As the name implies, you’re going to need an air fryer to make these donuts! Counter space is crucial in our kitchen so I’ve really been holding out on buying an air fryer because I don’t want another small appliance to store. So you can imagine my delight when I found out our Café Double Oven Electric Range has an air fryer built right into it! I mean…what more could you want?

The Air Fry mode on the Café range gets your oven super hot and circulates the air to give your donuts a crisp, golden brown exterior that tastes just like they’re fried.. You basically get all the crunch you’d get with deep-frying but without all that oil and clean up.
These downloadable software upgrades are always helping me to level up my cooking and I can’t wait to see what Café has up their sleeves next!

In addition to the air fryer, we recommend using a donut pan to make these cinnamon sugar air fryer donuts! It will help them really keep that nice, rounded donut shape! If you don’t have a donut pan, do not worry! You can make these on a cookie sheet they just just won’t keep their donut shape as well!

Tips for making these air fryer donuts

These air fryer donuts are very straightforward to make, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make making these donuts a cake walk.

  • Don’t underbake them: A doughy, undercooked donut can feel a bit heavy and claggy. The key to these air fryer donuts is baking them just the right amount so they’re fully cooked without drying out!
  • Use a donut pan: A donut pan will form your biscuits into that perfect donut shape so they look like the real deal.
  • Grease your donut pan well: The last thing you want is a donut stuck to your pan. Make sure you spray the pan well with cooking spray in between each batch for easy release!
  • Eat ‘em hot: Like most donuts, these air fryer donuts are at their tastiest when they’re fresh from the oven! We recommend eating them hot out of the oven, or reheating them in the airfryer for a few minutes before eating if you have leftovers!

Happy baking, my friends!

Units:

Ingredients

  • 1 can large biscuits
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

    1. Turn your air fryer to 375°F and generously grease a donut pan with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
    2. Pop open your can of biscuits and use a small round cookie cutter (we used ¼ inch one!) to cut out a hole in the center of each biscuit to make a donut shape. You can either air fry the donut holes on a cookie sheet or just throw them away!
    3. Place each biscuit round into your donut pan, gently pressing it into the mold of the pan to shape your biscuits slightly.
    4. Air fryer for 4 minutes and then flip over each donut. Air fry for 4 more minutes on the other side or until golden brown and fully cooked.
    5. Remove the donuts from the air fryer and dip in melted butter first and then cinnamon sugar to fully coat.
    6. Enjoy hot!

    • I haven’t personally tried it, but I’m sure you could! They probably won’t be quite as crispy, but I think they’d still work!

  1. Do you have any advice on how to air fry these if your donut pan will not fit in your air fryer? I have a countertop airfryer. Thanks, these look delicious.

    • You could just do them on a sheet pan or another flat surface! They won’t have a domed donut shape on the bottom, but they will still work!
