Pecan Pie Brownies

As you all know, Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday of all time. I mean the turkey, stuffing, sides, pies… I could go on forever. It’s a flawless holiday. Except for one tiny problem… where is the CHOCOLATE!?! I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this. It’s a magnificent meal that would be made so much better by a sweet chocolate ending.

That’s where these pecan pie brownies come in. They’re fudgy, crunchy, nutty, and so darn easy to make. You’ll love this easy Thanksgiving dessert!

So… what are pecan pie brownies?

Okay, prepare yourselves. What I’m about to describe *may* be the the best Thanksgiving dessert you’ll have on the table this year. Picture pecan pie, but with an indulgent brownie base. Except the brownie base is way thicker, with a slightly thinner layer of nutty pecan pie. The result is a decadent chocolate dessert with just the right amount of pecan topping to give it a crunchy, sweet finish.

They are *chef’s kiss* perfecto!

Why are pecan pie brownies so good?

Pecan pie + chocolate is such an underrated flavor combination. I almost always make this bourbon chocolate pecan pie for Thanksgiving and it’s always a hit. And these pecan pie brownies are absolutely no exception. Chocolate is the perfect addition to this classic Thanksgiving flavor. The combination of a fudgy chocolate base with a salty-sweet, nutty topping is truly out of this world.

Enjoy every chocolatey bite!

Ingredients

  • 1 boxed brownie mix, prepared according to the directions
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups chopped pecans (roasted & salted preferred)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9 x 9 pan with parchment paper on all sides. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the brownie mix according to directions on the box. Pour the brownies into the prepared pan, using a rubber spatula to spread the batter evenly to the sides.
  3. Bake the brownies for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take the brownies out of the oven. They will still be raw, but set enough to hold up the pecan pie layer.
  4. While the brownies are baking, make your pecan pie filling. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, eggs, butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Fold in the pecans. Set aside.
  5. Once the brownies are somewhat cool, pour the pecan pie filling over the brownie layer, using a spatula to gently spread the filling out evenly without pressing it too far into the brownie layer.
  6. Return the brownies to the oven for another 20 minutes or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out mostly clean.
  7. Allow to cool completely to room temperature to set before slicing into 16 brownies. Enjoy!

  1. I used a 9×13 pan instead and they came out perfectly! I still used what the recipe called for the pecan pie topping. Had the brownies in for 15mins, let cool for 5, gently poured the pecan pie mix, then baked for another 25 mins. They taste so delicious!

  2. These are very good, but the baking time needs to be increased significantly! I read the comments and baked for 20 extra mins. I checked them and it’s kind of hard to tell if they are done bc the topping is so gooey and wonderful. I let them coo and cut into them and they are pretty underbaked. I could have baked them for an additional 15 mins!

  3. I tried these yesterday, and while they taste nice, they did not come out correctly!!! They took another 15-20 minutes to cook and most of the pecan pie topping sunk to the middle/bottom… not sure what I did to goof it up!!

  4. I am going to make these for Friendsgiving this afternoon- can I bake in a pie plate instead of a brownie pan? I have some golden syrup on hand and I am hoping I can sub that for honey
