How to Make Peppermint Oreo Truffles:

These recipe for Peppermint Oreo Truffles is pretty much as easy as it gets:

  1. Make the Oreo truffles: Simply pulse the Oreos in a food processor or blender, add in the cream cheese, peppermint extract and a pinch of salt and…nope that’s it. Dough is done!
  2. Roll the mixture into truffles and freeze: Use a teaspoon (or tablespoon) to scoop rounded balls. Roll between your palms into a circle and place on a cookie sheet or plate to freeze for at least 30 minutes. This will help the truffles retain their shape in the warm chocolate.
  3. Dip the truffles in chocolate: Once the balls are chilled, dip them in melted chocolate to fully coat. Sprinkle with crushed up candy canes and THAT. IS. IT.

Now pop those bad boys like candy.

How to Store Oreo Peppermint Truffles:

These Christmas Oreo truffles make an excellent present or hostess gift this holiday season! We love to wrap them up in cellophane bags tied up with festive ribbon or load a Christmas cookie tin full of them. They’re sturdy and travel well, keep in fridge for two weeks, or in the freeze for 3 months, and don’t go stale like a cookie or bar would

The best part about these Oreo peppermint truffles is that they’re super versatile. How sad would it be if you could only eat peppermint and chocolate flavored goodies around the holidays?!  Make these year round and omit the candy canes if you feel like they’re too Christmasy!

Enjoy this weekend of holiday baking!

Units:

Ingredients

  • 2 sleeves of Oreos*
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • pinch salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate tip
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

      1. In a food processor, pulse Oreos until they resemble a fine powder. Add in cream cheese, peppermint extract, and salt and pulse until mixture is homogenous. Do not over mix.
      2. Scoop rounded tablespoons of truffle into your hand and roll into a ball. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
      3. In a microwave-save bowl, melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in the microwave in 20 second increments until melted.
      4. Use a large fork like a spatula to scoop each truffle and dip into the melted chocolate. Tap the fork gently against the side of the bowl so that any extra chocolate drips back into the bowl. Place each truffle back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
      5. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes or peppermints and place back in fridge until fully hardened, about 30 minutes.

Notes

*You can use mint oreos or plain oreos!

  1. How many oreos in a sleeve? You mentioned in an earlier comment that it was two rows of a package, but we get the party pack, so I’m unsure if it’s the same quantity. Number of cookies would be so helpful! 🙂

  2. These look great, and I would like to try them. But I have a question. What is a sleeve of Oreos? Graham crackers come in sleeves, so do Ritz crackers. Do you mean 2 packages of Oreos, or 2 rows in the package? Maybe ounces of Oreos would be easier. I’m confused, help please!
    Thank you.

  3. I just made this!! Soooo good! 🙂 I think next time I’ll add more peppermint extract to the dark chocolate dip!

    • So happy these worked, Amanda! That is an awesome idea about the chocolate coating! We might have to try it next time we make these! Happy baking!
