The Ultimate Thanksgiving Pie Recipes

IT’S PIE TIME, BABIES. No, really, it is officially pie o’clock AKA Thanksgiving. Now, I’m not usually a big pie person, but Thanksgiving is pie’s time to shine. And while I’d usually take a brownie over a slice of pie, it’s quintessential to the holiday to eat at least one slice of pie. Luckily we rounded up 23 of them so you can have 23 slices if you wish. Heh.

Tips for making the best Thanksgiving pies:

  • Make a homemade pie crust: If  you’re making pie, chances are you’ll need a pie crust recipe. While you can always use a store bought crust if you’re in a pinch, homemade pie crust will really elevate your Thanksgiving treats. This is our absolute favorite homemade pie crust recipe. It’s buttery, flaky, super easy and incredibly versatile.
  • Don’t be afraid to stray from the classics: Everyone loves a good pumpkin, pecan, or apple pie, but don’t be afraid to try out a unique Thanksgiving pie to mix things up.
  • Serve a variety of different kinds: It’s all about the options for me. I like to serve one fruit pie, one pecan pie, and something chocolatey so that there is something for everyone to choose from.

Pumpkin Pies

Pumpkin pie is one of the most quintessential Thanksgiving treats, and it’s also one of the easiest pies to whip up! You’ll only need a few ingredients to make the creamy, custardy pumpkin filling. And you won’t need any fancy kitchen gadgets, mixers, or double boilers to make it. We rounded up our favorite takes on pumpkin pie below so you can pick and choose your favorite Thanksgiving pumpkin pie to serve up this year!

  • Gluten Free Pumpkin Pop Tart: Okay so technically this one is not a pie in the classic sense, but it’s easy to transport, easy to share, and packs all the same pumpkin flavor of pumpkin pie. Plus it’s encased in a tender, buttery gluten free crust for anyone with dietary restrictions!
  • Sweet Potato Pie with Almond Streusel: Now technically this isn’t a pumpkin pie, but sweet potato is pretty darn similar. You can feel free to swap out the sweet potato puree with pumpkin puree to make this perfectly spiced Fall pie with a decadent, buttery almond streusel.
  • Maple Pecan Bourbon Pumpkin Pie:  Pecan pie meets pumpkin pie in an addicting explosion of flavors and textures. When I tell you that you NEED this pie on your Thanksgiving dessert spread just believe me, okay?

Pecan Pies

Pecan pie is hands down my favorite Thanksgiving pie recipe. Maybe it’s because I only have it once a year… or maybe it’s because it’s truly the best pie in the whole world. It’s crunchy, salty-sweet, and the perfect pie for all your holiday occasions.

  • Mini Apple Pies with Maple Frosting: I love a hand pie. They’re cute, simple, shareable, and pack all the fun flavors of a full size apple pie into a little handheld treat. These mini apple pies are especially great with a creamy maple glaze.
  • Salted Maple Caramel Apple Pie: Okay, so clearly we have a thing for maple apple treats, but this flavor combo is to-die-for. This apple pie is filled with fresh apples and a salted maple caramel that will have everyone asking you for the recipe.

Sometimes you just want something fun and different for Thanksgiving. And that’s where these out of the box, unique Thanksgiving pies come in. Because pie doesn’t have to be boring!
