For the Craque:
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup creamy peanut butter
3-4 cups powdered sugar
8 cups crispy cereal (such as Chex)
4 tablespoons melted butter
2 tsp salt
On medium heat, melt butter in a large pot. Add chocolate chips and mix until melted. Stir in peanut butter and salt. Turn off heat and gently stir in cereal. In a large plastic bag, pour in first half of the powdered sugar then half of the chocolate mixture. Shake well to coat. Pour into large serving bowl. Repeat with the other half of the ingredients.
Seriously, be careful. You won’t stop eating it.
Meet my new obsession: Craque. It’s both a candy and a sweets company started by Alabama native Frieda Orange. She started making this sweet treat for her friends in Brooklyn who quickly became fixated with its perfect combination of chocolate-y salty crunchy goodness. They said it was so addicting that, coupled with its stark white color, she should sell it and call it “craque.” And trust me, it’s addicting as hell. What is it? A mixture of crispy cereal, chocolate, and peanut butter doused in powdered sugar. I found time to make my own recipe after trying Frieda’s this week. I was unsure of her proportions, so I made up my own! You can check Frieda out here.
