This indulgent and easy no churn chocolate Oreo ice cream is the perfect chocolate treat for summer! Made with just 5 ingredients and LOADED with Oreos!
If you know me, you know I love a good no churn ice cream, and now that it’s officially ice cream season AKA the best season, it’s time to whip allllll the homemade ice creams. While it’s always fun to go get a scoop at your local ice cream shoppe, making ice cream at home is SO easy and crazy delicious. You’ll love this no churn chocolate Oreo ice cream because it’s rich, chocolatey, loaded with Oreo cookies and super easy to make!
What is no churn Oreo ice cream?
You’d never be able to tell that this no churn Oreo ice cream is any different from the kind made in an ice cream machine. It’s just as creamy, luscious and rich as traditional ice cream – just made without a machine! Because it’s not cooled as it’s churned, you’ll need to set it overnight to freeze, but other than waiting 12 hours, this ice cream is about as easy as it gets.
What do you need to make no churn chocolate ice cream
You’ll only need 5 ingredients. I know, I know, it sounds too good to be true, but believe me when I say this chocolate Oreo ice cream will taste every bit as delicious as store bought pint or ice cream shop scoop!
Heavy Cream
Sweetened Condensed Milk
Cocoa Powder
Vanilla Extract
Oreos
Ingredients that will take your chocolate Oreo ice cream to the next level
If you don’t have these on hand or if you want to keep it classic, you can just disregard these. But a few extra stir-ins can take your ice cream from gourmet to other worldly.
Espresso powder: Espresso or Instant Coffee Powder deepens the chocolate flavor. We always add espresso powder to our chocolate treats and it’s equally delicious here!
Sea salt: Salt is key to finishing off the flavor profile of any sweet treat. It immediately makes any sweet treat taste gourmet. A little sprinkle of sea salt on top of your ice cream will go a long way!
Hot fudge or Nutella: You can make homemade fudge, but you can also buy a bottle of it at the store (we use Nutella for a delightfully hazelnut twist) and make your life easier. Simple spoon in half of the ice cream into your pan, then drop pockets of fudge on top of the ice cream. Make a few swirls with a butter knife and repeat with the rest of the ice cream!
Marshmallow Fluff: Chocolate and fluff are a match made in heaven (lookin’ at you chocolate marshmallow cookies), and a little marshmallow fluff folded in can help to lighten up the intense chocolate flavor and bring in some vanilla.
More Cookies: Why not throw in some edible cookie dough, crumbled up chocolate chip cookies, or thin mints to give this ice cream a fun twist.
How to make no churn Oreo ice cream
Homemade no churn ice cream is seriously one of the easiest summer treats you can make at home. No need to splurge on an overpriced ice cream shoppe scoop when you can make creamy, dreamy no churn ice cream that tastes just as gourmet, right at home–no ice cream machine required! It’s stupid easy. I’m talking 10 minutes prep time. Pop it in the freezer overnight–no churning necessary!
Whip heavy cream into stiff peaks.
Stir together all the other ingredients.
Fold in Oreos.
Freeze.
Enjoy all the homemade chocolate Oreo ice cream this Summer!
Line a standard size 1 pound loaf pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl with a whisk attachment, whip the heavy cream until medium stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, vanilla, espresso powder, and salt. Mix well until completely combined and no clumps of cocoa powder remain.
Pour the sweetened condensed milk mixture into the whipped cream and use a rubber spatula to fold everything together gently. Do not over mix, as this can cause the whipped cream to deflate.
Last, fold in the Oreo cookie crumbles, leaving a few out to crumble on top. Transfer the ice cream to the prepared pan and shape into an even layer. If desired, top with more Oreos.
I so wanted to give this recipe 5 stars, but in all honesty, I thought the ice cream was way too rich! I know that doesn’t sound like it should be a negative, but it was so super sweet and heavy that I paired it with some other ice cream I had just to cut the richness. The flavor was yummy, and who doesn’t like Oreos, but the heaviness just turned me off of it. Is there anything that could lighten it up some? I debated about not using heavy cream, but you want the whipped cream to add in, so I’m sure you can’t leave that out! Anyway, if there’s anything you know that would help, please let me know! My granddaughter and I had a fun time making it and I’d make it again if it could be a bit lighter in taste and texture.
You’re killing me with all these amazing no churn ice cream recipes and I am LOVING it. I have made no churn ice cream a few times and it was delicious and the best part is you know what goes into making it! Thank you so much and now my biggest decision is which one to make. Move over banana bread….we’re making ice cream. Thank you and happy July 4th!
