Announcing our Tulum, Mexico Food Photography Workshop!

The essential Foodie's Guide to Tulum, Mexico: find out where to eat, play, shop, drink, and eat some more in the beachside paradise of Tulum!

Um you GUYS, I have been waiting for MONTHS to tell you something we’ve been working on. So drumroll, please… we’re hosting a 4-day food photography workshop in Tulum, Mexico from February 10th-13th!

My team and I have been hard at work creating the ultimate food photography workshop for you all (because besides our Mastermind workshop, the last workshop I hosted was in 2017?!), and with winter just weeks away (I’m so sad), we thought what better way to escape the cold than with a tropical food photography retreat?!

Join us for four days of fun, sun, and food at the gorgeous waterfront property Papaya Playa Project, where you’ll spend your days immersed in food photography, eating as many acai bowls as you can manage, photographing local cuisine, and learning all about storytelling, light, and composition.

WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS

This workshop is designed for photographers who understand the basics of food photography and are looking to expand their skill set. We strongly recommend prior knowledge of manual DSLR camera settings and editing. Throughout the workshop, we’ll engage in open conversations where we will share our career goals and cultivate a strong and welcoming community of creatives. I so look forward to getting to know each and every person who joins us for this workshop. Primary topics will include:

Composition
How do you create a well-composed food image? We’ll discuss basic compositional principles, as well as more complex tips and tricks for nailing the perfect food shot.

Storytelling
We’ll put together beautifully curated food stories, demonstrate the why behind our styling choices, and tease out the emotional connection between viewer and food.

The Human Element
Incorporating the human element into our photography is one of the best ways we can connect to our food photographs. We’ll play around with hands in frame, talk about how to add the human element to our photographs, and techniques for directing people in your shot.

Restaurant Work
Photographing in restaurants poses an entirely unique set of challenges for food photographers, so one day we’ll venture offsite to photograph at one of the best restaurants Tulum has to offer. Together we’ll style a tablescape, photograph it, then eat all of the delicious food!

1:1 time
Each photographer will have the ability to meet with me 1:1 to discuss their individual businesses and goals. We’ll talk through things specific to your business and you’ll have the opportunity to ask me any question you’d like 🙂
