What makes the perfect Christmas cookie recipe?

The beautiful thing about holiday cookies is that you can make pretty much any cookie recipe into a Christmas cookie. Add some festive sprinkles, candy canes, drizzled chocolate, and a bow and your everyday cookie is immediately elevated to holiday cookie status. For me there are three necessary characteristics all Christmas cookie recipes must have:

  • Indulgent: The holiday season is all about treating yourself! Now is the time to go all out on buttery shortbread bars, fudgy brownie cookies, and decadent chocolate chip cookies.
  • Dependable and Easy to Make: During the holiday season the last thing I want to do is work with a finicky recipe. There’s no time for a bad batch of Christmas cookies. Rest assured, that each and every one of these recipes has been tested countless times so you’ll get perfect holiday cookies every darn time!
  • Festive Flavors: Now this isn’t a must, but a cookie recipe certainly gets points for including any of the following flavors: chocolate-peppermint, caramel, candy cane, s’mores, turtle, pecan praline, cinnamon, red + green themed (not a flavor, but you know what I mean!), ginger, oatmeal, molasses…basically anything that gives you a bit of nostalgia for the holidays is a perfect candidate for a Christmas cookie.
  • Easy to share: And obviously the best part about holiday baking is sharing with friends and family! All of these cookies will hold up well in a tin to ship or a foil wrapped plate to drop off at a neighbors!  So go ahead and make a double batch!

So without further ado let’s get into the best Christmas Cookie Recipes Round Up of all time.:
